The exhibition CRY brings the audience on an audiovisual exploration through a chaos of connected screenshots and videos collected from the internet, movies and reality.
In her work, Sarah Michelle Riisager deals with how the world looks when one would imagine how it looks. Mankind’s relation with grief and grief processes are explored through installations and videos. The different works will test homemade rationales designed to put into system how you can exist and understand your contemporary. The audience is invited to embrace the weeping and reflect over the mourning, which according to Riisager is what fundamentally makes us human. Grief is at the same time a natural consequence of being a human in a globalised society. Riisager shows us a world where online subcultures, fetish communities and virtual worlds rule, and explore the virtual existence of mankind in the dark corners of the Internet. The audience is made to be part of the ambiguous dynamic between seeing and being seen. Riisager places herself in the limbo between reality and the virtual world, and invites us to participate in this bizarre parallel reality, of which we are both attracted and disgusted.
In connection with the exhibition Josefine Struckmann will play a lo-fi concert in the exhibition room and Sif Hedegaard will perform Christmas poetry, whereto we will serve a glass of glögg for warmth.
