På gruppeudstillingen ’I See You Are (Not) There’ inviteres du ind i et intimt rum, hvor hierarkier og livsanskuelser bliver synliggjort gennem den fotografiske praksis. Udstillingen opsætter nye forbindelser mellem kunstnere som alle arbejder eksperimenterende med det fotografiske medie.

c4 projects lokaler skaber rammen for en variation af udtryk, hvor de involverede kunstnere leger med grænserne for fotografiet. Værkerne stiller skarpt på den fotografiske proces og æstetik, individets rolle i samfundet, samt åbner for tanker om hvordan vi skaber intime rum for hinanden; det makropolitiske i forhold til det mikropolitiske. De stiller spørgsmålstegn ved universelle geopolitiske og følelsesmæssige problemstillinger. Har vi tabt intimiteten gennem vores systemer og fortællinger? Hvordan kan vi finde fællesskaber gennem individualitet, og hvilken indflydelse har vores identitet på oplevelsen af intimitet?

Til udstillingen lanceres kunstnerbogen ’I See You Are (Not) There’ af Forlaget Gestus. Publikationen forener billed- og tekstbaserede værker, med afsæt i udstillingen og bearbejder dem her på ny. Bogen er et værk i sig selv, og fungerer derfor ikke blot som et katalog over udstillingen.

I forbindelse med udstillingen afholdes en serie artist talks (online) med et udvalg af de medvirkende kunstnere. Der afholdes også en (online) workshop med Diana Lindbjerg. Her vil de mere maskinelle aspekter af fotografiet blive undersøgt, samt den fotografiske process muligheder og udfordringer. Alle er velkomne – børn såvel som voksne. Arrangementet er gratis (begrænset plads – tilmeldingen på info@c4projects.dk), som en del af workshoppen kan man lave sit eget spektrometer.

c4 projects er et kunstnerdrevet udstillingssted der vægter en undersøgende tilgang til kunst, kuratering og formidling. ’I See You Are (Not) There’ er en del af vores to-årige udstillingsprogram: Intimitetsprogrammet 2019/2020. Med fjorten udstillinger ønsker c4 projects at styrke sin profil med et ambitiøst og mere internationalt orienteret program. Intimitetsprogrammet vil undersøge det mentalt intime og kropsligt udfordrende, det private, troens rum og seksualitet, og vil igennem fordybelsen i emnet intimiteter behandle og nuancere eksistensvilkår i samtiden.

At the group exhibition, ‘I See You Are (Not) There’ you are invited into an intimate space where hierarchies and different views on life are made visible; through photographic practice. The exhibition seeks to create connections between visual artists who all work experimentally with photography.

c4 projects create the framework for a variety of photographic expressions, where the artists involved play with the boundaries of photography. Their work focuses on the photographic process as well as the aesthetic, the role of the individual in society, thoughts about how we can create intimate spaces, as well as examining the relationship between the macro- and the micropolitical: raising questions about universal geopolitical and emotional issues. Have we lost intimacy through our systems, memes and narratives? How can we find communities through individuality, and what impact does our identity have on how we experience intimacy?

As an extension of the exhibition we launch the artist book ’I See You Are (Not) There’ by Forlaget Gesture. The artist book unites and rework image and text-based works from the participating artists. The book is a work in itself, and therefore not only a catalogue.

Thereto c4 projects will host a series of artist talks (online) with a selection of the exhibiting artists. And facilitates a workshop by Diana Lindbjerg. Here the mechanical aspects of photography will be examined, to reveal possibilities and challenges of the photographic process. Everyone is welcome – children as well as adults. The event is free (limited spots – sign-up via info@c4projects.dk). As part of the workshop, you can make your own spectrometer.

c4 projects is an artist-run exhibition space that emphasizes an exploratory approach to art, curation, and communication. ‘I See You Are (Not) There’ is part of c4 projects’ 2-year-programme: The Intimacy Programme 2019/2020. With fourteen exhibitions c4 projects wish to strengthen its profile with an ambitious and international programme. The Intimacy Programme wants to explore the mental intimacy and the bodily provocative, the private sphere, beliefs, and sexuality and through an immersion into the different aspects of intimacy.
