Udstillingen INTO THE SOFT undersøger det kunstneriske samarbejde mellem de to kunstnere Anousha Payne (UK) og Camilla Reyman (DK). Samarbejdet afhænger ikke af streng konceptualitet eller teori, den undersøger derimod, hvordan intuition, tillid og generøsitet kan føre til nye skulpturer, malerier og installationer.
Kunstnernes arbejde begynder som en korrespondance, hvor de giver hinanden et objekt eller en tekst og beder den anden om at respondere med et kunstværk, som igen kan afføde en ny respons. Ud fra de objekter, som denne samtale skaber, kuraterer de to kunstnere udstillingen.
Anousha Payne (f. 1991 i Southhampton) bor og arbejder i London og er uddannet fra Camberwell College of Arts, 2014. Payne arbejder primært med skulptur og maleri, hendes foretrukne materialer er keramik, tekstil, epoxy og vandfarve. Hun har for nylig deltaget i udstillinger i Paris, Frankrig og i Samara, Rusland.
Camilla Reyman (f. 1981 i Aalborg) bor og arbejder i København og på Møn og er uddannet fra Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi, 2013. Reyman arbejder hovedsagelig med skulptur, maleri, 3D-teknologi og installation, og hendes foretrukne materialer er planter, organisk pigment, epoxy og voks. Hun arbejder i øjeblikket på en større udsmykningsopgave på Regionshospitalet Horsens, bestilt af hospitalet og Statens Kunstfond.
Payne og Reyman mødtes på et artist residency i Panama i 2017. De deler en interesse for forestillingen om, at alt stof besidder en form for bevidsthed. Begge er optaget af de modsætninger og forbindelser, der er mellem opfattelsen af materialitet gennem tiden og den teknologiske udvikling.
Udstillingen er støttet af Rådet for Visuel Kunst Københavns Kommune og er en del af Art Week Copenhagen 2019.

INTO THE SOFT is a collaborative exhibition exploring artist companionship and dialogue between the two artists Anousha Payne (UK) and Camilla Reyman (DK). It is relying less on a strict conceptual and theoretical concept than on an exploration of how intuition, trust and generosity can serve as a base for new sculptures, paintings and installations. The two artists gifts each other an object or a text and ask the other to respond with an art piece, which then again can foster another response. The interpersonal visual language sprung from this process will be curated into the exhibition ’Into The Soft’.
Anousha Payne (b. 1991 in Southhampton) lives and works in London and holds a BFA from Camberwell Collage of Arts, 2014. She mainly works with sculpture and painting, and her preferred materials are ceramics, textile, epoxy and watercolour. Payne is currently participating in exhibitions in Paris, France and in Samara, Russia.
Camilla Reyman (b. 1981 in Aalborg) lives and works in Copenhagen and Møn. She holds a MFA from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, 2013. She works mainly with sculpture, painting, 3D technology and installation, and her preferred materials are plants, organic pigment, epoxy, and wax. She currently works on a larger decoration job at the Regional Hospital of Horsens, commissioned by the hospital and the Danish Arts Foundation.
Payne and Reyman met in 2017 where they both attended the La Wayaka Current Artist Recidency in Armila, Panama. They share an interest in the idea of matter having agency, both in a spiritual and non-spiritual way, and they are both inspired by the frictions and possible links between ancient materiality and modern technology.
The show has been generously supported by The City of Copenhagen’s Council for Visual Arts and is part of Art Week Copenhagen 2019.
