c4 projects is presenting works at Alt_Cph 13 by: Akitonixin (NL/AT), Julie Galsbo, Julian Turner (DE), Berit Dröse (DE/DK) & Marie Melchiorsen.

TOOLBOX 01/ Basics by Akitonixin is a multilingual compilation of basic items, tools, equipment and materials necessary for every creator, published in April 2013. Akitonixin has gathered the names of things necessary for artist traveling abroad, and made them into a book. This book can be a companion and a communication tool for artists doing residencies, for both Japanese artists producing work in foreign countries, and foreign artists working in Japan, to assist you in communicating about your work in an unfamiliar place. Akitonixin is an artist collective by Europe-based Japanese artists Nishiko (NL) and Aki Namba (AT).

Blocking by Julie Galsbo is an edited video performance filmed at Amager Strandpark, Copenhagen, on the 13th and 14th of April 2010. Building a wall of sand, slowly blocking the view while the wheather is changing, Julie Galsbo has compressed a 2 day performance into a video of 1:05 hour duration.

Julian Turner will be building a bench on site, Rapid Transition, for Alt_cph 13. Considering that the landscape of an art fair is often a very clean, purpose-built, pristine exhibition architecture, Julian Turner wants to counteract this with a work of ephemeral appearance. With its brittle surfaces, lapidary construction and imperfect material aesthetics, Turner is contributing with a work of inviting practicallity. He will also be showing the work Bruxellisation / Kunsttransport, photo / installation, 2013.

Solid Solution by Marie Melchiorsen & Berit Dröse, is an installation consisting of several sculptural pieces. The pieces, produced especially for Alt_cph 13, propose dialogues between the materials used in each single work; but also among the works as a total. Based upon a longer process of talks and try-outs, with a common fascination for certain materials as a starting point, Berit & Marie creates a series of sculptures using commonly known materials like plaster, charcoal and textile. As part of Solid Solution there will also be an installation in the window of c4 projects in Dybbølsgade 60, 1721 København V, which will be on display from the street, parallel with Alt-cph 13. Solid solution is a term used in Chemistry: It is a combination of two atoms, which creates a new element. Marie & Berit does the same in a literal sense; combining different materials, solid as well as liquid: creating a solid solution.
