No Intimacy is a solo exhibition by Sahar Al-Khateeb. In the exhibition, Al-Khateeb will build an installation where they reconstruct used chairs and uses various other materials in order to direct the audience’ experiences of the space and the objects in the space as well as their intimate boundaries and needs. In this way the audience will be included in the space or their presence will be neutralized. The exhibition deals with questions about absence and presence, the right to intimacy and the right to reject it.

Sahar Al-Khateebs work explore the relationship between furniture and space - especially the relationship between used furniture and the history and connotations they may have. The starting point for their work are personal, psychological and social experiences around the stereotypes that are imposed on them by society. These experiences become an approach to criticize dominant norms and ideas of social conformity and to raise questions about the relationship between the individual and the group.

Sahar Al-Khateeb was raised in Palestine, where they studied at the International Academy of Art Palestine. Since 2013 they have lived and worked in Sweden and in 2021 they graduated from Konstfack in Stockholm.
